Hey All Sport Kite fliers!!! Welcome to the new 2019 season! We hope that those of you that competed in the 2018 season will be joining us at the Annual Convention in October in Shreveport, Louisiana. You have about a week and a half left to get in on the Early Bird Pricing. For sport kite competitors, you need have only competed in one competition during the 2018 competition season in order to be eligible to compete at the nationals in sport kite competition.
To learn more about the competition or the convention, go to kite.org
I wanted to share some news with you, the AKA Sport Kite Committee and Board of Directors have passed a rule that makes it easier for both competitors and events when it comes to music, and brings us more in line with the International Rule Book.
No longer will you be only allowed to use a CD as your music medium. The allowed Media Devices will be up to the discretion of the individual event.
The updated rule is as follows:

AKA Appendix (Page 26)

P. Allowed Media Devices

The allowable formats for music must be announced at least 30 days prior to the event. See International Rule Book Section IV.H.2 for allowable formats, and requirements for labeling media.

We will have the fully updated appendix published to the website by the end of the week, along with all other relevant documents.
All rules are posted or linked on our website at kite.org
rules location
This is just one of the ways that we are trying to streamline the AKA and bring it more in line with current technology, standards, and prepare us for the future. Keep your eye on the website (whether you are a sport kite flier or not) for even more updated features and an expansion of the available information.
