1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Mr. Robin Allen McCracken, former AKA Region 7 Director, lead organizer of the Rocky Mountain Kite Association/MileHi Kite Club and alumnus of National Kite Month. Originally from San Diego California and live in Aurora Colorado (Denver). I assist with the AKA and National Kite Month Facebook pages, and lead several successful pages and groups which I initiated on Facebook to promote kiting and other interests of mine. My “real job” is the Meat Department at King Soopers (Kroger) stores
2. Why did you join the AKA?
Back in San Diego as a 13 year old kite enthusiast, I joined the AKA for the first time in 1977 when Valerie Govig took over for founder Robert Ingraham, Valerie also published “Kite Lines” magazine.
I have always believed that there needs to be one universal organization representing all forms of tethered flight, which is why I joined initially and have volunteered lots my time and some money to assist with this cause
3. What is your favorite kite to fly?
Deltas and Fighters. SLK’s
4. Where is your favorite place to fly?
San Diego, Kansas, Colorado as default (live there)
5. If you could fly with anyone dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you fly?
With the original members of the San Diego Kite Club again, the late Tony Cyphert Sr., Bob Lang, Nick Mann, Benny Baldomero, Ralph Smith, Don Clark, Don Merchant, and those still living Vic Heredia, Robert Loera, Richard Loera. Visited with the 3 surviving members of our group recently.
I would likely fly India Fighters and anchor a bunch of my Deltas off to the side. I would LOVE to show them some traction kiting on a buggy, landboard, and/or on the water. We could do some sort of an “amphibious” kiteboard at Ski Beach (Land AND Water)
6. Where is the next place someone can find you flying a kite?
Colorado, or Leoti Kansas
