Adelaide International Kite Festival 2026

The Adelaide International Kite Festival returns to the skies of Semaphore over the 2026 Easter long weekend, Saturday 4, Sunday 5, and Monday 6 April, with a brand new Twilight Market launching on Friday 3 April (Good Friday).
From 11am daily, incredible kites will fill the skies with colour, movement and, in some cases, their breathtaking size. The spectacle overhead is not to be missed, featuring whales and dragons, sea creatures and superheroes, and everything in between. You never know, you might even see a pig fly! The large inflatable kites will be popular as always, with two and four string kites weaving colour through the spaces between, and a ground display bringing the sand to life.
This much-loved annual event will feature several international guests, including Festival regulars Simon and Lyndall Chisnall from New Zealand, and Festival first-timers from Indonesia – a husband and wife duo, and a Swedish kite flyer who retired in Bali for its incredible kite culture. They’ll be joined by interstate kite flyers from New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania, in addition to local flyers from across South Australia and Adelaide. What a fabulous line up of flyers!
On the foreshore, the Festival Marketplace returns with more than 45 stallholders and, for the first time ever, will open with a Twilight Market from 5pm-8pm on Good Friday, 3 April. Visitors can enjoy a delicious array of food and drinks while browsing homewares, art, jewellery, children’s toys and more. Kites will also be for sale within the Festival Marketplace, to be flown in the public flying zone on the southern side of the jetty.
This free community event will once again be managed by the Adelaide Kite Flyers Association and K Marie Events.
The Festival organisers are thrilled to collaborate with an outstanding group of sponsors for the 2026 event. The City of Port Adelaide Enfield continues its valued support as Major Sponsor, alongside returning Platinum Sponsors TJ’s Amusements, bringing their much loved rides back to the foreshore, and Adbri. We welcome back Gold Sponsors Dock One North and Kites2KITES, while Mason Gray Strange Auctioneers and Valuers and Banner Crew continue as Silver Sponsors, joined this year by new sponsor Symons & Clark Transport. Beyond Bank also returns as a Bronze Sponsor. Event suppliers Melba’s Chocolates, supporting the Festival’s Easter Bunny visits, and Jasmine Rae Design, providing graphic design services, help bring the Festival to life.
