From Bob’s Kite Eye Photography page:
My name is Bob Turicik and live in Plymouth Wisconsin. Combining my hobbies of kiting and photography has brought me to become a KAPer (Kite Aerial Photographer). Kite Aerial Photography is lifting a camera with kites getting a unique photo that makes you feel like you’re seeing a bird’s eye view.
Kite aerial photography (KAP) is a hobby and a type of photography. A camera is lifted using a kite and is triggered either remotely or automatically to take aerial photographs. The camera rigs can range from the extremely simple, consisting of a trigger mechanism with a disposable camera, to complex apparatus using radio control and digital cameras. On some occasions it can be a good alternative to other forms of aerial photography.
The equipment consists of several lift kites and suspension systems. My kites are a Premier Power Sleds 36 & 13′ Genke with 500# line. My main camera is a GoPro Hero 3 that’s Wi-Fi controlled with my I pad. I also use a Cannon D70 for ground shots. I built several Brooxes suspensions systems I use depending on winds and event.
I have You Tube videos with camera mounted kites and have had several pictures & interviews broadcast on Green Bay’s Channel 5 & 11 and the Milwaukee’s Channel 6 Vince Condella’s weather segments. Several pictures have been published in local papers and International Kiting magazines.
Bob has been a member of the Wisconsin Kiter Club (WKC) & the American Kite Association (AKA) 2010-16.
